The Freedom Fido’s program is our way of giving back to veterans in the Rochester and nearby areas. This program has two key features that will help our veteran community.
We will work closely with local Veteran Affairs staff and select veterans will help socialize, train, and care for the dogs under the guidance of our professional trainers. They will help take the puppies on field trips, do handling exercises, and build on basic foundational obedience.
Once the dog has mastered basics skills, it will advance to the final stage, pairing with a veteran in need of a 4 legged companion. Veterans will be able to apply for the dog. The Veteran and dog will then be paired based on many factors to ensure success. Once the pairing is complete, the dog, veteran, and trainer will work together to finalize individual training needs/goals.
The dogs will live 5 days a week in a trainer foster home and 2 days a week at our training facility. The veteran trainers will come train with us at The Family Fido facility.
We’ve identified two puppies that have awesome personalities to launch it. At the beginning of 2024, we will launch their official socialization and training!
